Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa
A managed Cyprus relocation route for remote earners, with residency, tax positioning and local setup aligned before you land.
Email Us Your Visa PlanCyprus Digital Nomad Visa is a residence route for non-EU/non-EEA remote workers earning at least €3,500 net per month from abroad. It grants a one-year permit, renewable for two more years. Applicants need foreign employment or clients, health insurance, accommodation, clean record and biometrics in Cyprus.
What You Get
The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa gives eligible non-EU and non-EEA remote workers legal residence in Cyprus while they earn from employers, clients or business activity outside Cyprus.
The permit is issued for one year and can be renewed for up to two further years, giving a maximum stay of three years under this route. It is built for remote professionals who want Cyprus residence without taking local employment.
- Live in Cyprus while working remotely for non-Cyprus income sources.
- Bring a spouse or partner and minor children, subject to higher income thresholds.
- Use the residence period to establish housing, banking, schooling and tax position.
- Keep the route clean by avoiding services to Cyprus-registered businesses or Cyprus individuals.
For long-term investors, a residence-by-investment route such as the Cyprus Golden Visa can be more suitable. For local employment, the relevant route is a Cyprus Work Permit.
Who Qualifies
Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa requirements start with nationality, income and the source of work. The scheme is for non-EU and non-EEA nationals who can work remotely using telecommunications technology and whose income comes from outside Cyprus.
The core income threshold is €3,500 net per month after tax and social contributions for a single applicant. The threshold rises by 20% for a spouse or partner, bringing the required level to approximately €4,200, and by a further 15% for each dependent child.
Family members can obtain residence alongside the main applicant. They cannot work or carry out economic activity in Cyprus under the dependent status.
The current scheme has a quota of 1,000 permits, increased from 500. The expanded window was confirmed open in late 2025, so old Digital Nomad Visa Cyprus 2024 summaries that reference closed availability or older limits need to be treated as outdated planning material.
Tax Position
Residence permission and tax residence are separate concepts, but your days in Cyprus, home base and business structure can pull them together quickly.
Once you become Cyprus tax resident, Cyprus taxes worldwide income. From 1 January 2026, personal income tax bands are 0% up to €22,000, 20% up to €32,000, 25% up to €42,000, 30% up to €72,000 and 35% above €72,000.
The 60-day tax-residency route can apply where the conditions are met: at least 60 days in Cyprus, not more than 183 days in any other single country, a permanent home in Cyprus, and a qualifying Cyprus employment, business or directorship connection. From 2026, the previous condition of not being tax resident elsewhere was removed.
Remote earners with dividends, interest, rental income or investment income should review Cyprus Non-Dom. Crypto founders and traders should also map their income through Cyprus Crypto Tax before becoming Cyprus resident.
Documents Needed
The documents must show who you are, where the income comes from, where you will live and that Cyprus is not being used as a way to serve local clients.
- Valid passport.
- Proof of remote employment, foreign clients or foreign business activity.
- Bank statements or income evidence showing at least €3,500 net per month for a single applicant.
- Health insurance valid in Cyprus.
- Clean criminal record certificate issued within the accepted freshness period, commonly under six months.
- Proof of Cyprus accommodation, such as a lease or title-related evidence.
- Marriage certificate or birth certificates for dependants, where relevant.
- Passport photos and application forms for each applicant.
Biometrics are taken in Cyprus, including fingerprints and photograph. Documents issued abroad often need legalisation, apostille and certified translation before they are fit for submission.
Application Route
The strongest applications start before arrival, because income evidence, criminal record certificates, insurance and accommodation proof all need to line up before the in-country appointment.
Processing is typically about 5 to 7 weeks after the file reaches the competent stage.
The first permit is valid for one year. Renewals can extend the stay for two additional years, subject to continued eligibility, clean documentation and compliance with the income and work-source rules.
Work Boundaries
The visa is not a shortcut into the Cyprus labour market. The main applicant must work remotely for employers, clients or businesses located outside Cyprus. Providing services to Cyprus-registered companies or Cyprus-based individuals is prohibited under the route.
A UK company, US company, UAE company or other foreign employer can support the route where the work is remote and the income is paid from abroad. Freelancers can qualify where contracts, invoices and payment records show non-Cyprus clients and stable income above the threshold.
Founders need a sharper structure. If the operating company, management, clients or revenue source touches Cyprus, the remote-worker route can conflict with the facts. In that case, a company and substance plan through Cyprus Company Formation can be the cleaner long-term answer.
The decision point is simple: use the Digital Nomad route for foreign remote income. Use employment, company or investment routes when Cyprus becomes the place where the commercial activity is actually carried out.
Daily Setup
After approval, the relocation depends on housing, bank access, cards, currency exchange, insurance, tax registrations and family administration.
Cyprus uses the euro. Cards are widely accepted in cities, supermarkets, restaurants and online services, while cash remains useful for smaller vendors, local markets and some service providers. New residents often keep an international multi-currency account active while opening or using local banking arrangements.
For families, school timing, lease terms and dependant paperwork need to be aligned with the main applicant’s file. For founders and senior contractors, banking questions often connect to company structure, invoice flows and tax residency rather than the visa alone.
Why This Route Works
Three-Year Path
Enough runway to settle, bank, school children and bed in a Cyprus tax position before the route is up for renewal.
Clear Income Test
The main applicant must show at least €3,500 net monthly income from outside Cyprus.
Family Included
A spouse or partner adds 20% to the income threshold and each dependent child adds another 15%.
Defined Processing
A predictable timeline you can plan an arrival, lease and notice period around, rather than an open-ended wait.
Tax Planning Window
Cyprus tax residence can connect to the 60-day rule, 2026 tax bands and the 17-year Non-Dom regime.
Real Setup Support
Housing, insurance, banking, dependants and tax timing are planned around the residence application.
